No One in Need has been Turned Away Because of the Generosity of our Donors

Dear Friends,

Yesterday I was tagged in a social media post by a 14 year old. The title read: Suicide is Gen Z’s Second-Leading Cause of Death, And it’s a worse epidemic than anything millennials faced at that age. Along with horror at the title, I was intrigued that a 14 year old was posting an article of this nature from the Business Insider, an American financial and business news website published by Insider Inc. The facts according to new data from the Center for Disease Control are:

  • For children aged 10 to 14, the suicide rate triples between 2007 - 2017 after years of decline.

  • The suicide rate for people aged 10 - 24 increased by 56%.

This year at Peace Ranch, in addition to seeing kids struggling with fallout from abuse and neglect and seeing Veterans dealing with the ongoing effects of stress, there has been an influx of children from our community who have either attempted or contemplated suicide. These kids are in regular family systems for this day and age, and are struggling to stay afloat. They feel isolated, exhausted, and hopeless.

At Peace Ranch people experience the beauty of the outdoors, the peaceful environment, curious horses, and an invitation to come as you are to discover who you were meant to be. This same invitation given to Veterans with complex trauma over the last 6 years, whose suicide rates are 22 per day, has yielded amazing results—Not One Life Has Been Lost to Suicide.

In addition to direct therapy services, Peace Ranch hosts hundreds of children and adults annually in education, training, and volunteer capacities. Every student, teacher, parent, and volunteer leaves knowing there is a place where hope lives. It’s not unusual for people in crisis to be referred by someone who has already been here in some capacity.

As fear and uncertainty increase in the world, so does the need for the hope found at Peace Ranch. Though insurance won’t pay and families are strapped, no one in need has been turned away because of the generosity of our donors. This year, Pray and Give generously to help Gen Z kids find hope and families in turmoil find peace; Pray and Give generously for Veterans bearing the scars of war to find healing and those bearing the weight of loss to find compassion. Pray and Give generously to help us fulfill our calling, to restore the hopeless and transform broken lives.

Sincerely,

Jackie Kaschel

Executive Director
